What is there to see and do in the area?The East Port Bar is a terrific pub to visit during a day out in Dunfermline or a great way to spend the evening afterwards. Pittencrieff Park, is a public park of immeasurable quality, given to the people of Dunfermline by Andrew Carnegie. In the grounds is Pittencrieff House Museum which tells the story of Pittencrieff park. Townhill Coutry Park is a woodland park perfect for taking a stroll through. Learn about the history of Dunfermline by a visit to Dunfermline Palace & Abbey. Charles I, the last monarch of Scotland, was born here. The Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum and Scottish Vintage Bus Museum are both also worth a visit. If you are a planning a trip to Scotland's capital you will find there is lots to see and do. The city Centre is only 40 minutes drive away and there are terrific public transport links. Edinburgh Castle dominates the city situated on top of an extinct volcano overlooking Princes Street and the Royal Mile. Near the End of the Royal Mile at Holyrood, you can now visit the controversial Scottish Parliament building. There are daily guided tours.
